You can substitute Tahini (Sesame Butter / Sesame Paste) with:
1/4 cup Toasted Sesame Seeds plus 2 tbsp Olive Oil, added to existing recipe.
Directions
Drain and rinse chick peas thoroughly.
Mix all ingredients well in food processor till very smooth. This will take 15 minutes on high.
DO NOT leave the food processor running so long it gets the contents hot, and starts to cook the hummus.
If mixture seems to thick, add 1 tbsp Canola Oil.
Store in refrigerator. Should last up to 1 week without preservatives.
Home Made Tehini
Ingredients
1/3 cup Toasted Sesame Seeds
3 tbsp - Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Directions
Blend on high in a food processor till very smooth. This will take at least several minutes on high.
If possible, making several portions of this size recipe (3 minimum) at the same time will work better. As the seeds are very small, and the food processor blades may not churn the mixture well enough in small quantities.
Store in refrigerator. Should last several weeks in the refridgerator without preservatives.
